Which animal are you?

Are you a unicorn, fox, or hedgehog? Or what do you aspire to be? No, this is not about the movie "Lobster". It's about your career! I have heard these terms frequently in the videos and articles I follow and wanted to simplify things for you. Basically, these are titles given to people based on their domain expertise.

Who is a Unicorn?

A Domain Unicorn is, much like the mythical creature it's named after, rare to find. They are highly functional generalists who know a great deal about their domain of expertise, as well as associated domains, the market, audience, competition, influences, history, trends, strategies, and more. They are not only able to make informed decisions but are also able to think creatively and outside of the box. As such, they are highly valued as entrepreneurs and organizational decision-makers. Furthermore, their ability to see the big picture and connect the dots between seemingly unrelated fields allows them to identify opportunities and potential obstacles that others may overlook. This makes them an invaluable asset to any team or organization that is looking to innovate and stay ahead of the competition.

Who is a Fox?

These are individuals who are experts in their respective domains and understand the impact of their domain on related departments. Such individuals make excellent team leaders and influencers. They can provide critical insights and guidance to their team members, which can help them in resolving complex issues effectively. Furthermore, they can also act as mentors and coaches to help their team members grow and develop their skills, which can lead to a more successful team overall.

Who is a hedgehog?

A hedgehog is someone who is a specialized expert in a domain. They are focused, efficient, and task-oriented. They may not worry much about the impact their outcome will have; instead, they might spend time perfecting a workflow. While they may not always consider the impact of their outcomes, they are an essential asset to any organization looking to streamline their operations. Through their expertise and dedication, they can help to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that will ultimately drive greater success.

So, who are you?
